Massive Open Online Course is the new, easy way of learning. In addition to traditional course materials such as filmed lectures, readings, and problem sets, many MOOCs provide interactive user forums to support community interactions among students, professors, and teaching assistants. MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distance education.  

More and more top Universities and Museums globaly brovide for free their courses, available for the public. All you need to do is register to the ones that suits you the most.

• Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.

My experience is mostly with Coursera since I wanted to participate in MoMA's courses that are dedicated mostly to modern art, focusing on crussial art themes. The MoMA, has created a great team of curators and teachers that are always helpful, answering questions fast and making learning easy.

Khan Academy, on the other hand, has a complete art history course but I wouldn't recommend it to someone with limited time.
