ainting on silk is centuries old technique that came from Asia. In the course painting on silk or silk “stained glass,” we will show you the basic principles of painting on silk. We can paint on silk scarf -  we have several different sizes, or you can choose wheel silk stretched over a metal frame with a diameter of 20 or 30 cm.
 
We will show you the technique of painting on dry -  contour painting then fill it with color, and painting on wet – using watercolor. We will try batik and effects that may develop in the colors while using salt. We will paint with brushes, sponge ... try the technique imprinting, learn to combine colors and take steps to the final image.
 
Each child will receive a silk scarf or one wheel of their choice. The lesson doesn’t require any special artistic talent, for inexperienced painters have prepared a book with templates where they can look for inspiration.

In artstudio, we advise you to bring some older shirt with you in order not got get paint on you and your clothes. Our art kingdom is full of crayons and paint and sometimes we end up having it everywhere :)
 
Parents or guidance of younger children can stay and participate in the process of creation. It is also possible to wait at New Gallery across the street (Balbínova 26) where you can go through the exhibition or enjoy a great Italian coffee in our coffee shop. Painting on silk is centuries old technique that came from Asia. During the course Painting on silk for the beginners and slightly advanced each participant will learn how to stretch the silk scarf or shawl on a frame, will get to know the basic principals of painting on silk and while working on his own scarf you can try different techniques - painting the contours, color bleeding, tie-dye and also a work with the salt for an effect.

The course is led by an experienced and empathic teacher who guarantees a quiet creative atmosphere and a personal attitude. The course is suitable for beginners as well as advanced artists, each one will work at his own pace. The lesson doesn’t require any special artistic talent, for inexperienced painters have prepared a book with templates where they can look for inspiration.

What to take with you?

All art supplies are included. We recommend bringing "work clothes" (an old T-shirt) in case you get some paint on you.

Painting on silk is a several centuries old technique that comes from Asia. In Europe it became popular mostly in the last year thanks to the painting materials availability and unique esthetic properties. Silk does not have to be the synonym for luxury and unavailability, on the contraty - the prices for the silk to be decorated are very favorable.
